TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL

November 27, 2021
5:30pm

Logan Tree Lighting Festival

Kick off the Christmas season with free holiday celebrations on Historic Center Street in downtown Logan. “We’ve been doing Christmas events in downtown for 19 years,” said Gary Saxton, director of the Logan Downtown Alliance. “It seems like it’s time to start a new tradition with a tree-lighting festival.”

Darla Clark, former mayor of Logan from 1994-98, has a special place in her heart for Christmastime. When she was mayor, she helped ensure there were decorations all along Logan’s section of Main Street.
Clark also continued a tradition of a tree lighting at City Hall that began before she was mayor. Although she can’t remember when it stopped, she is excited to know a tree lighting in downtown Logan will be happening again. “It makes our city look better, and people just kind of have a better feeling when those things are happening,” Clark said.

This year the event will feature live holiday music, including caroling by Logan High School band and choir. As the event falls on Small Business Saturday, some of downtown’s local businesses will have later hours during the celebrations. Saxton said there will be special deals or sales happening throughout the day.“The value of this event,” Saxton said, “is to create more excitement leading into the holiday season and positioning downtown as a really great destination for family events and for families to gather downtown to have some fun.”
